The inspiration

The Cowboy Fire Pit Grill is inspired by open-fire cooking and the mobile Chuck Wagons used in the American West after the Civil War.

Before there were cars and cattle wagons, cowboys moved around on horseback.
They often made long, hard days with a herd of cattle at their side.
These cowboys needed to eat and the Chuck Wagon became their daily meal on the road.
The invention of the Chuck Wagon is attributed to Charles Goodnight,
a well-known Texas rancher. Goodnight fitted a durable,
manufactured covered wagon to better meet the needs of cowboys herding cattle.

These mobile food wagons could now carry more goods than a cowboy on his horse
and helped feed whole groups as they travelled
Every day, hearty food was cooked over an open fire, often with cast iron,
to eat wherever a comfortable spot could be found.
The cook packed staples that could handle long journeys: cured meats,
Sourdough biscuits and dried beans.

They grabbed what they could along the way, but most Chuck Wagon dinners were simple,
"Chuck Wagon BBQ".

A brilliant idea was born!

Some years ago, on a cold winter evening, our friends Jaret and Mona from Tournet met
our founder Robert and his team to prepare a healthy meal over an open fire.
As they ate, they started a discussion on what the best outdoor cooking system ever would look like.
How could we design a grill that both novice and advanced cooks could use in practice?

What features would make it better than what is currently on the market?
The Cowboy Fire Pit Grill was born out of this conversation.

A complex grilling system so versatile that it removes any intimidation.
It is a foolproof way for anyone interested in cooking to reconnect with nature outside.

We have combined all the basics of cowboy cooking in one grill that can be as simple as this
as a fire pit or as complex as you like.

With this unique outdoor cooking system, you can build your dream grill and customise your cooking experience to your personal taste!

Cooking food directly in coals

Cooking directly on coals is one of the most traditional ways of cooking over an open fire.
All you need is glowing charcoal and a piece of meat, vegetable or bread dough.
The coals sear the meat and create a crust that prevents the coals from sticking to the food.

NOTE:
Watch your food carefully as it gets cooked quickly.

Attachment for grilling on the grid

The grill grid attachment is a perfect cooking surface for your cowboy cooker.
Place it directly on the fire pit rail or take control of the heat by hanging it from the vertical suspension rods
confirm and move up or down.
Use with the Barebones Cast Iron Skillet or Dutch Oven or add food directly to the grid.

Hanging from the suspension bracket

Hang your Dutch Oven, or food on hooks, on the hanging rod!
Adjust the direction of the heat by adjusting the placement of your heat source in the fire pit and/or the height of your chains. This is a great option for slow cooking or roasting.

Make a fire pit and bake with skewers

Use skewers To cook over the campfire, the traditional way.
Perfect for sausages while camping and marshmallows in the backyard after a long summer day. The extended legs keep the wick off the ground to prevent rust and make it easy to set up anywhere.

Use multiple grill grids to create a feast!

Test your cooking skills.
Add additional Grill Accessories for a multi-level cooking experience.
The different levels give you maximum control over temperature and heat,
so you can cook more items at once.

Cook with charcoal, wood or both
