Delicious soft cinnamon rolls in weltevree's outdoor oven
Preparation
Mix the flour, sugar, salt, cardamom and yeast together in a large bowl. Melt the butter (let it cool a little), and add the milk and eggs. Add the butter mix to the dry ingredients. Knead all the ingredients together into a smooth dough. This kneading takes about 10 minutes by hand. If the dough becomes too sticky to knead well, add some flour.
Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel and let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place. The dough should double in volume.
Roll out the dough on a floured countertop with a rolling pin. Or use a piece of baking paper.
Time to add the filling. Melt the butter. Sift the brown sugar and cinnamon together to avoid lumps. Pour the melted butter over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle the sugar/cinnamon mix on top. Then roll the dough into a large sausage and cut slices from it with a sharp knife.
Spread the slices on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Make sure to leave some space between the buns. Cover the dish and let them rise in the mould for another 1 hour. Meanwhile, light the fire in the Outdoor oven. Use the magnetic thermometer to measure the temperature in the oven. The oven should reach a temperature of 220 degrees Celsius.
Brush the buns with beaten egg (optional: sprinkle with pearl sugar). Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
Let the buns cool and enjoy!
